Membership Opportunities
Damascus Volunteer Fire Department
Thank you for your interest in joining the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department. We are actively recruiting individuals who are ready to serve the Town of Damascus and surrounding communities as volunteer firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). Your commitment can make a life-saving difference.
Who Can Join?
Operational Members
Individuals aged 16 and older who are in good physical condition and interested in participating in emergency fire and EMS services are eligible to apply. Operational members are assigned to different roles based on certifications obtained through accredited training programs.
Auxiliary & Administrative Members
Not all roles require emergency response. If you prefer to serve behind the scenes, or do not meet the physical requirements for operational duty, you are encouraged to apply as an Auxiliary or Administrative Member. These members support the department through fundraising, community outreach, public education, and administrative functions.
Basic Requirements
To become a volunteer with DVFD, applicants must:
-
Be at least 16 years old
-
Submit a completed application, including a background check and physical evaluation

Complete initial training at the Public Safety Training Academy, which includes:
